This guide is here to help explain Cex.io and how to buy gigahash (or gh/s). Gigahash is a increment of processing power used to determine a Bitcoin Miner's pull on the network. In short the more gh/s you have the more Bitcoin your going to be making through mining. Cex.io is a new type of Bitcoin commodity exchange where a user can trade Bitcoin in for more gh/s. What's better is that the gh/s a user buys is used for mining right away to generate more Bitcoin. Also the gh/s can be traded back and like any other commodity has a fluctuating value; so if you play your cards right you can make Bitcoin off of that alone.

I know what your thinking by now. The gh/s you buy is just a number on a screen and some of the more dedicated miners aren't savey with just having that. They want the power in there hands, in other words they want the hardware that is making the gh/s their selves. Don't worry Cex.io has an answer for that through hardware redeeming. Once you have purchased enough gh/s you can redeem it for the hardware that would run normally run it. The hardware get's shipped to your house were it is up to you to maintain and handle it.

Enough explaining what Cex.io is and on to the guide!

What is Bitcoin? Click here

First thing's first your going to need a Bitcoin wallet if you don't already have one try here.

Now navigate to Cex.io create an account and you will end up with a page that looks like this:

This is the Cex.io landing page, there is all kinds of useful information here. Such as, the current price of gh/s and charts to help with trading; ongoing transactions, and pending transactions. At this point you are going to want to click the big blue button that says "Fund Account" and you will end up on the next page which is

This is your Funds page, The red area shows your Bitcoin address for cex.io. Not to be confused with the address in the image, although you can send as much Bitcoin to that address as you'd like . This address is for funding your account so you would want to send some bitcoin to it to get started trading gh/s. The green area is where your funding will show up, again not to be confused with what is pictured. It will show you how many confirmations you have left (Cex.io requires 3) before your funds are credited to your account. Once that is done you are ready to buy some gh/s and at this point your going to want to click the Trade tab at the top of the page.

This is the same page as the landing page but now you have some sweet sweet Bitcoin to spend on gh/s! The red area is where you want to go for buying gh/s. You can type in how much gh/s you want to buy in the left box and what price you want to buy it for in the right. The price in the right box always shows you what the going rate is on the market for gh/s however you can change the price to what ever you want. Once you have set your buy for gh/s it will show up in the green area. This is the pending transactions section where your buys wait for someone to sell the amount you want at your given price. Once that has happened you will get notifications in the corner of your screen like the image below:

The red area is the purchase of gh/s being completed. The green area shows my awarded amount of bitcoin from my gh/s working that I just purchased!

I hope this guide helps out with understanding and using the Cex.io platform. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will answer them the best that I can.

That is pretty much it, if you want to check on your gh/s at work or any other advance setting you can click the Ghash.io button at the top. I might talk more on Ghash.io in a later guide.

*Note of Payment Processing*
When I authorized my payment to my wallet it asked me to check my email for a verification email to process the payment. The email never showed and it turned out to be the email providers problem. I ADVISE TO ACTIVATE TWO-FACTOR SECURITY ON YOUR ACCOUNT TO PROCESS PAYMENTS WITHOUT THE EMAIL. To do this:
  1. Go to your profile
  2. Follow the activation instructions under two-factor authentication
  3. When processing a withdraw enter in your two-factor code to skip the email verification.
